The OCF of Western Pennsylvania has concluded their open lecture series for the academic year. They kicked off a series during OCD awareness week with a talk on Finding the Right Level of Treatment given by the staff of OCD Intensive Outpatient Clinic from Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic, as well as offering a Pizza Party in Erie, PA with therapists on hand to give to support to adults, children and adolescents suffering with OCD and their parents, family and friends. These events had an overwhelming response.
In February they presented a seminar based on the NAMI Hearts and Minds program. Attendance at this lecture was sparse given the storm issues experienced this winter.
Concluding the open lecture series on March 25 was Dr. Robert Hudak, who provided information on how to distinguish between obsessions and delusions to facilitate better diagnosis and ultimately proper treatment. The lecture was well attended and as always, Dr. Hudak is quite experienced in ensuring both professionals and people struggling with mental health issues benefit from the information presented.
OCF of Western PA will be teaming up with LIFE Pittsburgh for the final seminar of the year. This seminar is only offered to mental health professionals due to space limitations. This seminar on Diagnosing and Treating Compulsive Hoarding will offer continuing education. The date in June is still to be determined.
In November OCF of Western PA once again gathered in North Park for the 3rd Annual Dirt Monster 5 Mile Trail Race and 1 Mile Trail Walk. It was another great success raising over $2000!
Recently, they have added a fan page to Facebook so you can find the scheduled events for the OCF of Western PA.
